Description
The combination of Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens and Hartebeesport Dam offers the perfect outing to discover a different side of Gauteng’s cities.
The Gardens are a popular local picnic spot, offering almost 300 hectares of landscaped and natural veld. The Gardens deliver great bird watching and are famous for being home to two Black Eagles that nest on the cliffs near the waterfall.
After spending a quiet morning in the gardens, you will make your way to the small resort town of Hartebeespoort (“Harties”) to climb aboard the Harties Aerial Cableway – the longest mono-cableway in Africa. The summit provides beautiful panoramic views of the Magaliesberg, Hartbeespoort Dam and the surrounding area. While on top of the mountain, you can enjoy a winding walkway that leads you to several viewpoints, highlighting the interesting history, points of interest and geology of the area
